Workshop at inaugural Aust School of Sexuality Festival
In Sydney Sat 23/09, I held a workshop presenting the Mindful Consent Model to 16 attendees at the inaugural Australian School of Sexuality festival weekend.
In a 2hr offering we defined consent, discussed consent in the context of intimacy then explored the Mindful Consent Model via embodiment exercises.
It was the first time I had delivered the new Mindful Consent branding to an in-person workshop, so it was amazing to see the new iteration of the model in play in the session!
I feel really happy that we had some GREAT engagements in the room on the day. We broached topics ranging from consent and high impact mental health concerns, IPV, and our lived experiences of our bodies when reaching our boundies and moving out of our Consent Zone. (What’s the Consent Zone?) I had some intriguing conversations about dissociation during consent decision, and how that manifests, and I’ll look forward to doing my own research at a later date to deepen my understanding of this.
Mine was the first workshop of the festival and it was my great honour to open the 2 day event, bookending the event with my consent work and the Mindful Consent Model.
My workshop was followed by a host of other topics presented by practitioners from the Australian School of Sexuality collective.
If you are interested in this event visit the Australian School of Sexuality site as future events are planned for both Melbourne and Sydney in 2024.
If you feel you missed out on learning about the Mindful Consent Model this time, I’ll be delivering the work next at the Mindful Consent Public Consent Forum in Melbourne on Oct 19. Check the ticketing link for the Consent Forum here.
