Mindful Consent at GEARD, Adelaide

On November 15th 2025 I was able to FINALLY grace the gates of GEARD, Adelaide’s only alternative sexuality lifestyle weekend event!

“GEAR’d Adelaide is an all inclusive leather and fetish event weekend centred around community connection, title competions and dance parties as the brainchild of Gerry and Scott, first held in 2017 an a highlight of the national kink calendar every year since. GEAR’d was devised as an inclusive, embracing space and set the bar for what inclusive leather and fetish events should aim to be. GEAR’d is run by a dedicated committee and group of volunteers and is constantly evolving to meet the needs of the South Australian leather and fetish community.”

After a long and fruitful conversation with Gerry, I was welcomed to fly to ADL and present Mindful Consent in a 90min format to further support GEARD’s rationale to provide community education for their attendees under the banner of safe play and playspaces.

I felt very welcomed by the whole community, and had a small but attentive group for my very first delivery of the Mindful Consent model in Adelaide. It is truly at grassroots events like this that I have cut my teeth as a presenter and consent educator, but it’s also where I have my most teachable moments - sitting with attendees keen to discuss consent who share their own stories of learning.

I do have something under my hat for 2026, so I look forward to integrating Mindful Consent further into the community in South Australia when they implement their plans for their anniversary events next year!
